Today we have the pleasure of interviewing Fat’hah Noor Prawita, an AS3 lover who knows the Flash world since 2004. Well, let’s meet Fat’hah and know him better!
Please tell us a bit more about yourself Fat’hah
I am a programmer that has been using Flash/ActionScript since Macromedia Flash MX 2004 to develop e-Learning contents, mini games, RIAs (Rich Internet Applications), mobile and desktop-based interactive applications (via AIR). Nowadays I specifically develop more about Augmented Reality (AR) and Visual Reality (VR) because of my master degree background in Digital Media and Technology, my project experiences and my personal preferences. I had been invited as a speaker at Adobe Camp 2013 Indonesia to talk about Augmented Reality in Flash platform because I had actively used FLARToolKit, IN2AR, AIRKinect, and another SDKs to develop Flash/ActionScript/AIR based Augmented Reality applications. Recently, I also become a lecturer and researcher in Telkom University, Bandung, Indonesia.
What is your goal and plan for the future?
One of my goals is to contribute to emerging technology research that innovative and useful to our community daily life. The short term, I’m planning to take a Ph.D. in mixed reality related topics.
Is there any side projects that you’re currently working on? If so, please explain.
Currently, we’re making an Augmented Reality platform that unites printing and digital worlds, so that our users can easily add Augmented Reality based contents to their printing materials (photo album, brochure, business card, etc).
Where do you look for inspiration and what inspires you?
My wife is my inspiration for most of my project’s idea. Even in some hackathons, we’ve teamed up to implement an idea with her handle the design and concept parts, and I take the technical part. I also get inspiration from my friends that came from another field and my students’ fresh ideas that often offer an out of the box solution.
What tips do you have for other aspiring designers/developers?
We need to keep track of the latest technologies those are rapidly changing. There is a saying, “competition makes us sharp”, one of the ways that we can do (and I’m doing) is to actively and regularly participate in various competitions that explore the latest ideas, APIs, and SDKs.
Thanks for your time Fat’hah, at the end would you please tell us why you have chosen to participate MyFlashLabs contest?
I’m sure most of ActionScript developers out there know about MyFlashLabs that actively creating useful ANEs to help them develop their AIR projects easier and better. So when MyFlashLabs running a campaign to expand its users, of course I wanna help to make it happen with the hope of more great ANEs can be produced by MyFlashLabs team.
